One wedding stamp can travel through the whole celebration. It seals the back flap of save-the-date envelopes, marks the corner of each RSVP card and decorates the kraft bags, boxes and tags that hold favors. On the day, guests find it in the guest book, on table numbers and on the menu cards; afterwards it closes the loop on Just Married thank-you notes. Couples who assemble their own stationery often use one monogram for everything and a second stamp for the return address.

This wedding stamp maker opens a round wedding layout in the editor above. Type your names or initials, the date and a short line such as Forever or With Love, then move the pieces until the monogram looks balanced. The online stamp maker lets you try several versions side by side, so you can compare a crest with the date in a ring against a simple two-name circle before anything is ordered.

Wait until the date and venue are confirmed before a date goes on a rubber stamp. A save-the-date stamp becomes useless if the wedding moves, which is why some couples order a names-only monogram for the paper goods and add the date only to the digital version on their wedding website. If none of these layouts fits your style, browse the wedding stamp templates.

Wedding stamps and where they go

Most couples need two or three: a monogram, a return address, and perhaps a small stamp for favors. Here is where each one earns its place.

  • Monogram with initials and date

    M & J · 06 · 12 · 2027

The signature mark of the wedding, used on envelopes, menus and the guest book. Keep the initials large and let the date play second fiddle.

  • Save-the-date stamp

    SAVE THE DATE · Maya & Jonah · June 12, 2027 · Lisbon

Stamped on postcards or envelope flaps months before the formal invitation. Add the city when guests will need to book travel.

  • Return address stamp

Maya Ortiz & Jonah Kline · 27 Linden Court · Fairview, OR 97000

Saves hand-writing the back of a hundred invitation and reply envelopes. Use the address where replies should land, which may be a parent's.

  • RSVP card stamp

    KINDLY REPLY BY MAY 1 · M & J

Adds a reply-by date and your monogram to plain cards. Leave the guest's name and meal choice handwritten so every card can be matched.

  • Favor tag and bag stamp

THANK YOU FOR CELEBRATING WITH US · 06.12.27

For kraft bags, tags, matchboxes and little jars handed to guests. A 30–40 mm round fits most tags without crowding the edges.

  • Guest book stamp

GUEST BOOK · The wedding of Maya & Jonah

For the title page of the guest book, or left on the table so each guest marks a page before writing a message.

  • Just Married thank-you stamp

JUST MARRIED · With love, Maya & Jonah

For thank-you cards and their envelopes after the honeymoon. Change the wording, not the layout, so it still matches the invitations.

How to make a wedding stamp

  1. 1

Fix the names and the date

Agree on how your names appear: first names, initials or a shared surname, and whose name comes first. Confirm the date with the venue and officiant before it goes on anything you order.

  2. 2

Match the shape to the stationery

Round monograms suit envelope flaps and favor tags; a rectangle fits a return address. Size the design for your smallest item first, usually the RSVP card or a 5 cm tag.

  3. 3

    Balance the monogram

Make the initials or names the biggest element, then fit the date and phrase around them. Script fonts look elegant, but their thin strokes fill in on textured card, so check them at full size.

  4. 4

Test on your paper and export

Print the proof on a spare envelope or card from your actual stationery. Export a PNG for the wedding website and digital invitations, and an SVG for whoever makes the rubber stamp.

Size, ink and files

Size
Envelope monograms are usually 30–40 mm round, return-address stamps about 50 × 20 mm, and favor tag stamps 25–30 mm so the whole design sits inside the tag.
Ink colour
Match the ink to the stationery: navy, sage, burgundy or a metallic pigment ink. Pigment ink dusted with embossing powder and heated gives a raised, glossy finish on invitations.
Letter height
Keep names at least 4 mm tall; the date can drop to about 2 mm. Interlaced initials stay readable as long as the letters do not overlap more than about a third.
Paper and fabric
Kraft, cotton and vellum take ink differently. Vellum and glossy card need a quick-drying ink made for coated surfaces, and fabric favor bags need a fabric ink that is heat-set with an iron. Stamp the wrapper or tag, never the food itself.
Files
A PNG with a transparent background drops into digital invitations and the wedding website, while stamp makers ask for SVG. Read about the PNG and SVG stamp downloads before choosing one.

Wedding stamp questions

Can I stamp the outside of envelopes that go through the mail?

Yes, on the back flap and for the return address. On the front, keep the area around the delivery address and the postage corner clear, because sorting machines read and print there. Avoid heavy embossing or metallic ink near the bottom edge of the front, where postal barcodes are printed.

How far ahead should we order a wedding stamp?

Allow two to three weeks before the first mailing for designing, proofing, ordering and testing the stamp on your paper. Save-the-dates often go out six to eight months before the wedding, and earlier for destination weddings, so the monogram tends to be one of the first stationery decisions you make.

Can guests use the stamp at the reception?

A stamp station beside the guest book works well: guests stamp the page and write their message next to it. Choose a self-inking stamp so there is no open ink pad near formal clothes, set it on a tray, and leave wipes nearby. Put the station away from the cake and the bar.

Is a stamp better than printed labels?

A stamp suits hand-assembled stationery and favors, where you add a mark to many different items in different sizes. Printed labels are faster for one large run of identical envelopes. Many couples use the design both ways: the PNG printed on round labels for the invitations, and the rubber stamp for bags, tags and the guest book.

What can we do with the stamp after the wedding?

Keep the saved design, remove the date and wedding wording, and you have a family monogram or a return-address stamp for your shared home. Couples use it for holiday cards, anniversary notes and later for birth announcements, so it is worth choosing a layout you will still like in ten years.
