Stamps save teachers and school office staff a surprising amount of handwriting. A teacher works through a stack of spelling tests with Checked or Great Work, dates homework as it comes in, and puts See Me on the paper that needs a conversation. In the classroom library, each book carries the teacher's name and room number so it finds its way back from book bags. At the front desk, staff mark incoming letters RECEIVED, log returned permission slips and print the school's return address on envelopes going home to families.

This school stamp maker loads a round classroom layout into the editor above. Swap the sample words for your own phrase, your name or your room number, try a circle against a rectangle, and check that the lettering stays readable at the size of a pocket self-inking stamp. Because the online stamp maker keeps your saved designs, a teacher can build a small matching set in one sitting, and the office can give its address and RECEIVED stamps the same look.

Settle one question early: who owns the stamp. A reward or grading stamp is a personal classroom tool, and you can design it however you like. A stamp that carries the school's name, crest or the principal's title belongs to the school, so the office should approve the proof before anyone orders it. More classroom layouts are in the school stamp templates.

Stamps teachers and school offices use

Classroom stamps give quick feedback, while office stamps keep records, and most schools need a few of each.

  • Reward stamp

GREAT WORK · Ms. Rivera · Room 12

For worksheets, reading logs and sticker charts. Younger pupils respond to a picture in the middle, so leave space for a star, an owl or an apple.

  • Grading marks

CHECKED · REDO · SEE ME · LATE

Status marks for homework and test papers. One bold word, set large, reads at a glance when you are working through thirty papers.

  • Homework date stamp

    HANDED IN · 14 OCT 2026 · Grade 5B

Records when homework or a project arrived, which settles late-work questions. Many teachers pair a fixed word with an adjustable date band.

  • Classroom library mark

THIS BOOK BELONGS TO · Mr. Okafor · Room 7 · Please return

Inside the front cover of class sets and read-aloud books, so copies come back from home and from the classroom next door.

  • Office received stamp

    RECEIVED · Cedar Hill Elementary · Date ______ · Initials ______

For mail, enrollment forms and lunch-money envelopes handed in at reception. The initials line shows who took each item, which helps when something goes missing.

  • Permission slip stamp

SLIP RETURNED · Science Center trip · Checked by ______

Marks trip and activity forms as they come back. It records that the office has the form; the parent's signature on it is still what counts.

  • Return address stamp

Cedar Hill Elementary School · 18 Orchard Lane · Lakeview, MN 55000

For letters home, newsletters and parcels sent from the office.

School stamp templates to start from

Pick a layout to load it into the editor. Every sample word is a placeholder for your own phrase, name or school details, and the pictures in the centre can be replaced or deleted.

  • Business Seal

    Circle stamp · 38 mm

    Business Seal

Two curved lines around a central book picture, good for a reward stamp with a class motto on top and the teacher's name underneath.

    Circle stamp · 38 mm

    Circle Logo Stamp

A single name ring around a logo space, useful for an art room or after-school program that marks portfolios and displays.

    Photography and Design School Seal

Two text rings with a centre picture, ready for a department name inside and a room number or class website on the outer line.

  • Text Stamp with Text: Stamp

    Rectangle stamp · 44x22 mm

    Text Stamp with Text: Stamp

A one-word rectangle that becomes CHECKED, SEE ME or RECEIVED; keep it to one word so it stands out on a crowded page.

How to make a teacher or school office stamp

  1. 1

Decide the wording and the owner

Write down the exact phrase plus any name, grade or room number. For office stamps, copy the school's official name and mailing address from its letterhead rather than from memory, and find out who signs off on stamps that carry them.

  2. 2

Pick a shape for the job

Round layouts with a picture suit reward stamps. Narrow rectangles suit one-word grading marks and RECEIVED stamps that sit in a margin. Set the plate size first, so every edit is judged against the real space.

  3. 3

    Write for young readers

Children read big, plain letters best. Shorten a phrase instead of shrinking it, keep one message per stamp, and make the centre picture large enough to recognise when the ink pad is running dry.

  4. 4

Test on a worksheet and export

Print the proof at actual size on a typical worksheet and check that it clears the answer spaces. Export a PNG to share with colleagues, or an SVG for the company producing the rubber or self-inking stamp.

Size, ink and files for school stamps

A classroom stamp may be used hundreds of times a term, so plan for speed and for wear.

Size
Reward stamps work at about 25–38 mm across. Grading words fit a 38 × 14 mm rectangle, and an office RECEIVED stamp with date and initials lines needs roughly 50 × 30 mm.
Ink colour
Many teachers avoid red for praise and choose green, purple or blue, keeping red for REDO or LATE. Office stamps are usually black or dark blue so they survive photocopying and scanning.
Letter height
Keep capitals at least 3 mm tall on stamps for early readers, and skip script or decorative fonts that children cannot decode yet. Office stamps can go down to about 2 mm.
Inks for children
If pupils use the stamps themselves, choose washable, non-toxic pads sold for children, and keep quick-dry or permanent office inks at the front desk.
Files
A PNG drops straight into worksheets, slides and the class newsletter. Stamp producers usually ask for SVG or a vector PDF for the plate. The pricing page explains the PNG and SVG stamp downloads in detail.

School stamp questions

What do teachers put on reward stamps?

Short phrases a pupil can read in a second: Great Work, Well Done, Super Effort, Star Reader, or a subject line such as Neat Handwriting. Add your name or class so a stray page can be traced back to you. Many teachers keep three or four phrases and rotate them, because children notice when every paper gets the same mark.

Can I put the school logo on my classroom stamp?

Ask the school first. The logo and name usually belong to the school, and many districts have rules about how they are used. A reward stamp with your own name and room number needs no approval, while anything showing the crest should be agreed with the office and kept clearly informal, never styled like the official seal.

Is a self-inking or a traditional rubber stamp better for marking?

Self-inking stamps are quicker for a full class set, because there is no pad to open and each impression comes out even. Wood-mounted stamps with a separate pad let you switch ink colours and are cheap to replace when a child drops one. Both are made from the same artwork, so one design file serves either.

Can I use a stamp image on digital worksheets and in online classrooms?

Yes. Export a PNG with a transparent background and place it on slides, PDFs or assignment comments the way you would add any picture. Keep digital stamps for feedback; electronic report cards, transcripts and certificates come from the school's own records system, not from a stamp image.

How do I update my stamps for a new school year?

Open the saved design, change the year, grade or room number, and export a new file for the producer. Separate layers for name, phrase and number make this a two-minute job. If you move schools, remove the old school's name from any stamp that showed it before using it again.
