How to make a stamp from an SVG file
- 1
Add your SVG
Drop an .svg file of up to 4 MB, paste SVG code from your design app, or try the example badge. Scripts, links and outside references are stripped first.
- 2
Choose the ink
Click blue, red, black, violet or green, or type a hex code, to give every unlocked layer the same ink. White areas stay white, so they read as paper in the finished stamp.
- 3
Adjust the layers
Hide the parts you don't want, lock the ones that are finished, and rename, fade, move, scale, rotate, duplicate or reorder the rest. Solo shows one layer on its own.
- 4
Set the size and export
Enter the print width in mm or inches, then download SVG, PNG, JPG or WebP, copy the image, save it to My Library or open it in the editor as a vector.
Using SVG artwork as a stamp
Vector artwork from Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma or Affinity is the best starting point for a stamp, because its edges stay crisp at any size. It rarely behaves like a stamp, though: it may use five brand colors, include a web address you don't want on paper, or have no physical size. This SVG stamp editor fixes all three.
When to use the SVG stamp editor
Reach for it when you have vector artwork and want a stamp without redrawing anything: a shop logo for packaging, a seal for documents, a mark for clothing tags or craft labels. If the design still needs wording or a border, add them in the online stamp maker afterwards; the artwork arrives there as a vector.
If you only need a flat image of an SVG exactly as it already looks, the free Convert SVG stamp to PNG tool does that in one step. This page is for the cases where the artwork has to change first: fewer colors, parts removed, pieces moved, or a vector file that must print at a known size.
Layer and color settings that matter
Layers come from the top level of your file, or from inside the single group many apps wrap around everything. Before exporting, group the parts you want to control separately, such as the ring, the emblem and the lettering, and name each group; Inkscape labels, Illustrator layer names and ids become the layer names.
The stamp color swatches give every unlocked shape one ink, the way a rubber or self-inking stamp prints. Gradients become solid ink, outlines stay outlines, and white shapes stay white so cut-outs keep working. Lock a layer that should keep its own color, or press Original colors to undo.
Moves are measured in percent of the artwork, scale runs from 20 to 300 percent and rotation up to 180 degrees either way. Duplicate a layer to repeat a star or a divider, then shift the copy.
Print size and file formats
The print width in the export bar is the size of the stamp on paper. A new file starts at 40 mm on its longest side; type any width in millimeters or inches. The SVG download stores that size, so Word, InDesign and print services place it at the right dimensions.
For PNG, JPG and WebP, the output size panel sets the pixels; changing it keeps the print size and only changes the DPI, which should stay at 300 or above for print. PNG keeps a transparent background and JPG fills it with white. Clean PNG and SVG stamp downloads come with a subscription; until then the preview is watermarked.
Limits and what to do instead
The editor works on whole layers, not single points or letters, and cannot change the wording of text; for new wording, rebuild it in the editor or start from one of the stamp templates. Linked web fonts are removed, so text may fall back to a system font. Convert text to outlines before exporting from your design app.
Linked images are dropped too; only PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP images embedded in the file are kept. Files over 4 MB are refused, and a raster logo inside an SVG wrapper stays a raster image. For a stamp that only exists as a photo, use the upload stamp photo tool, or Resize stamp image when a PNG just needs new dimensions.
SVG to stamp questions
How do I make a stamp from an SVG file?
Open the SVG here, choose one ink color, and hide or adjust any layers that should not be on the stamp. Then set the print width in mm or inches and download SVG, PNG, JPG or WebP, or open it in the editor to add text and a border. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Can I change an SVG logo to a single stamp color?
Yes. Pick a preset ink or enter a hex code, and every unlocked layer is filled and outlined in that color, overriding the file's own styles. White parts stay white so they print as paper. If one layer should keep its original color, lock it before you apply the ink, or restore it later with Use original.
Why is my SVG showing as only one layer?
Layers follow the groups at the top of your file. If the logo was exported as one flattened group or a single compound path, there is only one layer to work with. In your design app, group the ring, the artwork and the lettering separately, name each group, and export the SVG again.
Will the downloaded SVG stamp print at the right size?
Yes. The SVG download stores the print width and height you set, in millimeters or inches, so layout programs and print shops read the physical size directly, and the artwork stays vector and sharp. PNG, JPG and WebP files carry the size as DPI instead; keep that at 300 DPI or higher for printing.
Is it safe to open an SVG file in this editor?
The file never leaves your browser. Before anything is drawn, scripts, event handlers, embedded web content, animation and clickable links are removed, together with every reference to fonts, images or pages outside the file. Only shapes, styles, gradients, masks, filters and embedded raster images are kept, and the SVG you download is cleaned the same way.
