Add a Stamp to a Photo
Put a company seal, a PAID mark or any stamp image on a photo or scanned page, blend it into the paper so it looks pressed on rather than pasted, and save the result as a full-size JPG or PNG, or as a PDF ready to print.
- Looks pressed into the paper
- JPG, PNG and iPhone HEIC photos
- Stamps from a file or My Library
- Runs in your browser
How to put a stamp on a picture
- 1
Open the photo
Drop a JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC photo of up to 60 MB, paste one from the clipboard, or start with the example invoice.
- 2
Add your stamp
Upload a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG stamp, or pick a saved design from My Library. A photo of a stamp on white paper loses its background by itself.
- 3
Place and style it
Drag the stamp into position, resize it from a corner and turn it with the round handle. Then set the opacity, ink colour and wear.
- 4
Download the result
Choose JPG or PNG at the photo's full resolution, or a PDF on A4, A3, A5 or Letter. The preview is free to try; downloads need a plan.
Making a stamp on a photo look real
Plenty of paperwork only exists as a picture: a phone shot of a signed delivery note, a scanned receipt, a photographed form. When that picture needs a mark of its own, such as received, paid, approved or a company seal, this tool lays the stamp over the photo, lets it soak into the paper like real ink and writes a new image file, without the photo ever leaving your browser.
When to stamp the photo itself
Stamp the photo when the picture is the record: a proof of delivery, an expense receipt for the accounts team, a product shot marked as sample, or a page you only have as a scan. You can place as many stamps as you need, duplicate one with a click, and undo any step with Ctrl or Cmd+Z.
No stamp image yet? Design one in the online stamp maker or start from one of the stamp templates, save it to My Library, then pick it here from Add stamp. Signed-in free accounts can place the watermarked library preview while they try things out.
Settings that make a stamp look pressed in
Keep Blend with the photo switched on for paper. It multiplies the ink with the picture, so lines, creases and shadows show through the stamp the way they would through real ink. Switch it off on dark backgrounds, where multiplied ink would almost disappear.
Real stamps are rarely perfect, so small imperfections sell the effect. Lower the opacity to 80–90%, turn the stamp a few degrees, and try the Light or Worn ink texture to break up edges that look too clean. The ink colour presets cover red, blue, violet and black; Custom matches any other ink.
A transparent PNG gives the cleanest edge. A photo or scan of a stamp on white paper is cleaned up as it is added, so the paper is removed and the image is cropped to the ink. If traces of the paper remain, run it through Remove stamp background first and add the transparent file instead.
File formats and print size
JPG and PNG downloads keep the photo's own pixel size. JPG is the smaller file for email and upload forms; PNG is lossless, which suits scans with small print. PDF puts the photo on an A4, A3, A5 or Letter page with 10 mm margins, turned to landscape for wide photos and rendered at up to 300 DPI, so it prints at a predictable size.
The Size slider is a share of the photo's width. When the photo shows a whole A4 page, which is 210 mm wide, a 40 mm seal is about 19%: divide the stamp's real width by the page width to get the figure for any paper size.
Limits and what to do instead
Browsers cap image memory, so a photo above about 50 megapixels, or 16 on an iPhone or iPad, is scaled down when it opens; the header then shows the reduced size. If a HEIC photo will not open, save it as JPG on the phone and try again. The result is a flat image, so text in the picture cannot be selected or searched; when you have the original document, stamp that file instead.
Sometimes the stamp should hide what is beneath it, like a sticker over an old address. Give the stamp a solid backing with Add background to stamp, then turn blending off. Whatever you place, only use stamps and seals you are authorised to apply.
Questions about adding a stamp to a photo
How do I add a stamp to a photo online?
Open the photo in the tool above, choose Add stamp and upload a stamp image or pick one from My Library. Drag it into place, resize it from a corner, turn it with the round handle and adjust opacity or ink colour. Then download the photo as a full-resolution JPG or PNG, or as a PDF on standard paper.
Can I put a stamp on an iPhone HEIC photo?
Yes. HEIC and HEIF photos open directly, and the camera's rotation is applied, so the picture appears the right way up. Safari reads them natively; other browsers load a HEIC decoder only when a file needs it. If a particular photo still refuses to open, export it as JPG from the Photos app and try again.
How do I make a digital stamp look real on a picture?
Leave Blend with the photo on so the paper's texture and lines show through the ink. Set the opacity a little below 100%, tilt the stamp by a few degrees and choose the Light or Worn ink texture. Match the stamp's size to the paper, and pick an ink colour that suits the document, such as red or blue.
Will the stamped photo keep its original quality?
Yes. The preview on screen is a smaller copy, but JPG and PNG downloads are drawn at the photo's full pixel size, with the stamps drawn from their large originals. PNG adds no compression loss; JPG uses high quality. Only photos too large for the browser's memory are scaled down, and the tool shows when that happens.
Why does my stamp have a watermark in the preview?
This is a premium stamp tool. Anyone can open a photo, place stamps and check the result, but stamps on screen carry a watermark until you subscribe. A monthly, yearly or lifetime plan unlocks the clean JPG, PNG and PDF downloads. Your photo is processed in the browser and is not uploaded.
