Notary Stamp Templates for an Online Stamp Maker

These layouts provide an editable starting point for notaries preparing document marks, acknowledgement wording and commission details. Requirements vary by jurisdiction, so the template should be treated as a layout tool: replace every placeholder and verify the final size, wording and required elements before use.

Every preview opens as editable layers in the online stamp maker, so you can change the wording, border, symbol, dimensions and ink color before choosing a download.

Check the required wording before editing

Prepare the exact name, commission details and jurisdiction first, then choose a layout with enough room for them. A longer required line may need a different shape rather than smaller lettering. A template does not establish compliance or notarial authority. For a separate return address or office contact mark, use an address layout rather than adding extra lines to the seal.

Treat the preview as a layout reference

A notary stamp can have wording, dimensions and other requirements that depend on the place and purpose of its use. Start from the requirements that apply to you and compare the template against them. The sample text, border and emblem are not a statement that the design is approved for any particular jurisdiction.

Replace every example detail, including small identifiers and dates. If you need a general business mark rather than a notarial design, company seal templates may be a more appropriate starting point. Keep the purpose clear before you spend time matching the visual style.

Check each required line before refining the frame

Make a list of the wording you need and review it line by line after entering it. A long name or location can change how much space remains for the other details. Adjust the structure while keeping every required line readable; do not remove information simply to make a sample layout fit.

Look at the first and last characters of curved text and at the smallest numbers. Decorative rings should not crowd those details. Where a proof or approval is part of your process, review the actual finished artwork at the intended dimensions rather than a large editor screenshot.

Keep the reviewed file and the editable source

A downloaded image is a fixed version of the design. If details need to change later, update the editable source, review it again and make a new export. Keep older versions clearly separated so an outdated stamp is not selected accidentally.

Ask the intended recipient or manufacturer which digital stamp files they need. An SVG can contain an embedded bitmap logo, and an exported document is not the same as the editor’s layered design. A graphic template provides neither notarial authority nor a certification service; those come from the relevant authorised process.

How to make a notary stamp layout online

Before opening the editor, gather the exact details your commissioning authority lists for a notary seal or stamp, along with any size, shape or border instructions. With that list beside you, choose a round or rectangular notary template that has a similar number of lines. Open it in the stamp generator online and replace the sample name with your name exactly as it appears on your commission. Mark any line on your list that must appear word for word.

Work through the remaining lines in order: title, jurisdiction, commission number and expiry date, if your rules call for them. Set the plate dimensions in millimetres to match any stated size, then check that the smallest line is still readable. Keep the design plain; heavy wear or faint opacity can make an impression harder to verify. Save the clean master and review it against your list once more. For routine office marks such as “Original” or “Scanned”, the text stamp templates keep that work separate from the seal.

Notary stamp wording and layout examples to compare

Notary marks generally fall into two layouts. A rectangular stamp lists details on straight lines, for example: your name; “Notary Public”; the state or county; a commission number; and “My commission expires” followed by a date. A round seal wraps the name and jurisdiction around the edge and places the title or an emblem in the centre. Which one you need depends on your local rules, not on personal preference.

Beyond the main seal, notaries often use supporting stamps that are ordinary office marks: a venue line for the place of signing, an acknowledgement block with blank lines to complete, or a “Copy” marker for file duplicates. These carry no notarial authority on their own and should look clearly different from the official seal, perhaps in another shape or ink colour. Store them apart from the seal so the wrong mark is never picked up in a hurry. Round notary layouts face the same spacing problems as business seals, which the company seal maker guides on our blog work through in detail.

Example: arranging a required commission line

When commission details change, work from the current record and review every affected text layer. Do not assume that replacing the date updates the other details automatically. Keep old exported files distinct from the new version so they are not accidentally reused. If the required line no longer fits, compare another layout and have the revised artwork checked through the appropriate process before use.

Before you export

  • Replace the sample name, jurisdiction and all commission details.
  • Check any required dimensions and wording with the relevant authority.
  • Review the clean design at the size intended for the document.

A template is not evidence of notarial authority or approval. For manufacturing, send the producer the required dimensions and the reviewed artwork rather than relying on the preview image alone.

Notary Stamp Templates FAQ

How do I make a notary stamp online?

Gather the wording and size requirements from your commissioning authority, then open a notary template and replace every sample line with your own details. Adjust the font, spacing and plate size in millimetres, and preview it. The online stamp maker is free for editing; you pay only to download the reviewed file.

What information is on a notary stamp?

Many notary stamps show the notary’s name, the words Notary Public and the jurisdiction, and in some places a commission number and expiry date. Requirements differ between states and countries, so treat any template as a layout example and confirm the required elements with your commissioning authority before use.

Does a notary stamp from this site make me a notary?

No. A stamp design grants no notarial authority, commission or legal status. Stamp Creator Online provides editable artwork and digital files only. Your authority comes from the official commissioning process, and any stamp you use must meet the rules set by that authority.

Can I order a physical notary stamp from my design?

This site does not manufacture stamps, so you would send the downloaded file to a stamp vendor. Your jurisdiction may have rules about who can produce a notary stamp, so check first. For vendors who need vectors, compare the PNG and SVG stamp downloads; EPS comes with the vector package and is prepared separately.
