Handmade & Etsy Seller Stamp Maker
Design a maker's mark for your handmade products, then reuse it on mailer boxes, thank-you cards, product tags, return-address labels and the corner of your listing photos.

Small makers stamp nearly everything that leaves the studio. A maker's mark goes on the mailer box, the tissue and the swing tag; a thank-you card with a discount code or a care note goes inside; and the outer parcel needs a return address. Potters, leatherworkers and bookbinders often press the same mark into the work itself. Sellers on Etsy, on other marketplaces and at craft fairs also put the logo on listing photos and shop banners, so one design has to work in ink on kraft and as a clean digital file.
This handmade stamp maker starts you on a round emblem layout in the editor above. Type your shop or studio name around the ring, add Handmade by and your first name, or a line such as Est. 2021, and upload your own artwork for the center. The online stamp maker exports the same design as a transparent PNG for photos and as an SVG for a rubber stamp, so the mark on the parcel matches the one in your listings.
Decide where the mark will be used most before you settle on detail. A busy emblem looks good on a screen and blurs as a 25 mm stamp on corrugated card, and a mark that will be pressed into clay or leather needs even simpler shapes. Sellers who need both often keep a detailed version for digital use and a reduced version for ink.
Stamps handmade sellers use
A small studio usually needs one maker's mark and a handful of practical stamps for orders, tags and shipping.
Maker's mark
Hollow Oak Studio · Handmade in Asheville · Est. 2021
The core logo for boxes, tissue and tags. Rounds of 30–40 mm suit packaging; ceramics and leather need a smaller, simplified version.
Handmade by mark
Handmade by Mara · Hollow Oak Studio
A personal line for tags and certificates of authenticity on original pieces. Script fonts suit it, as long as the strokes are thick enough to print.
Thank-you card
Thank you for supporting a small business · 10% off your next order with THANKYOU10
Stamped on blank cards packed with each order. Keep the code on its own line, or leave that line blank if you change codes often.
Product tag
Hollow Oak Studio · Item ______ · Materials ______ · Care ______
For tags on candles, jewelry, knitwear or prints. Blank lines let one stamp cover every product in the shop.
Return address
From: Hollow Oak Studio · 214 Elm Row · Asheville, NC 28801
A 47 × 18 mm rectangle for mailers and padded envelopes. Place it in the top left corner, clear of the area where the postage label goes.
Fragile parcel mark
FRAGILE · Handle with care · Ceramics inside
For boxes of glassware and pottery. Bold capitals in a frame are easier for couriers to notice than decorative lettering.

How to make a maker's mark stamp
- 1
Gather your brand pieces
Collect the shop name exactly as it appears on your storefront, your logo artwork if you have one, and one line you want customers to remember, such as a city or founding year.
- 2
Pick a size for each surface
Choose about 38 mm for mailer boxes, 25 mm for tags and cards, and 12–20 mm for a mark pressed into clay or leather. Set that size before placing text, since small marks hold far fewer letters.
- 3
Simplify for ink
Shorten the curved text to the shop name, thicken thin outlines and remove tiny details from uploaded artwork. Zoom to 100% and check that each letter still has open space inside it.
- 4
Export both versions
Download a transparent PNG for listing photos and thank-you card artwork, and an SVG for the stamp manufacturer. Save the design in your library so a reduced version can be made later.
Size, ink and file format
Typical starting points for a small studio; your own materials decide the final numbers.
- Size
- Packaging marks usually run 30–40 mm across. Tag and card stamps work at 20–25 mm, and a pottery or leather mark is often 10–20 mm, which leaves room for a monogram and little else.
- Ink color
- One brand color across boxes, tags and cards looks deliberate. Black and dark brown suit kraft; white or gold pigment ink works on black tissue and dark mailers.
- Smallest text
- Curved text on a 25 mm round should stay at roughly 2 mm high or more. Script fonts need extra size because their joining strokes are thin.
- Files
- A transparent PNG is the format for photos and printed labels; an SVG gives the stamp manufacturer sharp vector outlines. Check the PNG and SVG stamp downloads on the pricing page before you export the final version.
- Clay, leather and existing stamps
- Marks pressed into clay, tooled into leather or used with sealing wax are made as firm polymer, brass or acrylic stamps rather than rubber, and need bold shapes with no text under about 2 mm. If you already own a stamp, ink it on white paper, scan it and use Remove stamp background to get a clean PNG.
Handmade seller stamp questions
Can I put my maker's mark on Etsy listing photos?
Yes, it is your own logo. Export a transparent PNG, place it small in a corner at reduced opacity and keep it off the product itself, so buyers can still see the details they are paying for. Read the current photo guidelines of each marketplace you sell on, because they change from time to time.
What should a handmade thank-you card stamp say?
A short thanks and one useful next step: a discount code for a repeat order, your social handle or a link to your shop. Two or three lines are plenty. Avoid offering a discount in exchange for a review, which marketplaces generally prohibit. If codes change each season, stamp the thanks and write the code by hand.
Do I need a registered trademark before making a logo stamp?
No registration is needed to make a stamp of your own shop name or logo. Registering is a separate step that protects the name in a given market, and it is worth checking that nobody already uses a similar name for similar goods. What you must avoid is copying another brand's logo, a licensed character or artwork you found online.
Does a Handmade by stamp meet product labeling rules?
No. A maker's mark identifies you, but products such as candles, cosmetics, toys and children's clothing often carry legal labeling requirements, from warnings and ingredient lists to safety marks. Check the rules for each product type and each market you ship to, and treat the stamp as branding next to the required label, never instead of it.
Should I order a self-inking stamp or a wood-mounted one?
Self-inking stamps are quicker for repetitive jobs like return addresses and thank-you cards, because the pad is built in. Wood or acrylic-block stamps give a crisper print on large boxes and let you switch ink colors freely, which suits a maker's mark used on different papers. Many sellers end up with one of each.
