One boundary shapes everything else. The dispensing label, with the patient's name, the medicine and the directions, is printed by your dispensing system, and your regulator decides what it must say. Stamps belong on bags, receipts, delivery paperwork and the pharmacy's internal records. The ones on this page are not meant for prescriptions, and none of them stands in for a required label.

How to make a pharmacy stamp set

List what staff write by hand
Walk the counter, the dispensary and the stockroom, and note every phrase someone writes several times a day. Those repeated words are your reminder, delivery and stockroom stamps.

Fit the bag stamp to the bag
Measure the plain panel of your smallest paper bag and set the stamp to fit inside it with a margin. Put the pharmacy name on the largest line and the phone number on its own.

Keep each reminder to one idea
One instruction per stamp, in capitals, with no small print. Use the same wording as the cautionary labels in your dispensing system, so the bag and the label never say different things.

Proof on real stock, then export
Print the proof and stamp a test on an actual bag, not office paper, to see how far the ink spreads. Export the PNG for team approval and the SVG for the stamp manufacturer.
Size, ink and materials
- Size
- A bag and receipt stamp works at about 40 mm round or 60 × 25 mm. Reminder stamps can be small, around 40 × 14 mm, and stockroom date stamps about 45 × 18 mm.
- Ink color
- Black or dark blue for the pharmacy's name and address, red for quarantine and REFRIGERATE so they stand out. Both stand out clearly against white printed labels.
- Smallest text
- Reminder words should be at least 10 pt, readable at arm's length by someone who may not have their glasses. Address lines can drop to 7 pt, phone numbers no lower than 8 pt.
- Files
- Use a PNG proof for sign-off by the pharmacist in charge, then send the manufacturer an SVG or vector PDF. The pricing page lists the PNG and SVG stamp downloads.
- Bags and stickers
- Uncoated kraft bags drink ink, so choose heavier lines and fewer words than on paper. On glossy sticker labels use a quick-dry ink. To print the design on sticker sheets instead, the Resize stamp image tool makes a smaller copy.
Pharmacy stamp questions
What is a pharmacy stamp used for?
Mostly for identification and housekeeping: the pharmacy's name and address on bags, receipts, delivery notes and letters, plus dated marks on invoices, owing slips and returns. Reminder stamps add a visible warning to a bag or carton. None of them authorizes a supply or replaces the dispensing label.
Can a stamp replace a printed dispensing label?
No. The label on a dispensed medicine carries details that pharmacy law specifies, typically the patient's name, the medicine, the directions and the pharmacy's name and address, and it comes from the dispensing system. A reminder stamp can repeat a warning on the bag, but the required label must still be printed and attached.
What should go on a pharmacy bag stamp?
The pharmacy name, street address and phone number, and opening hours if they fit. A website or a short line such as Ask your pharmacist is optional. Keep medicine names and health claims off the bag: it is carried in public and should not reveal what the customer bought.
Is a stamped delivery note enough proof of delivery?
For most home deliveries, a note stamped with date, time, the recipient's name or signature and the driver's initials is the usual record. Some medicines and some service contracts call for a specific delivery record or signature, so check what your regulator or service contract asks for before relying on the stamp alone.
Should a pharmacy stamp show a license number?
Only where local custom or rules put it on invoices and receipts. In the Gulf, for example, receipt stamps often show the commercial registration and VAT numbers. Copy each number exactly from the license or certificate, and leave it off the bag stamp unless your regulator asks for it there.
