Gift Shop Stamp Maker
Make the stamps a gift shop reaches for at the wrapping counter: a logo for bags and tissue, gift tags, a “Gift receipt” mark, loyalty cards, price tags and gift card envelopes.

A gift shop does most of its stamping at the till and the wrapping counter. Plain paper bags and tissue get the shop's mark, gift tags need a To and a From, and the exchange slip tucked into a present is stamped Gift receipt with the purchase date and no price. Loyalty cards collect one small stamp per visit, price tags go on handmade or consignment stock that has no barcode, and gift cards leave in an envelope that carries the shop name and a value line. Stamping plain stock lets a small shop look consistent without buying printed packaging for every season.
This gift shop stamp maker loads a round celebration design in the editor above. Replace the sample name with your shop name, change happy Birthday to a line you use every day, such as Wrapped with care, and compare a 38 mm version for bags with a 25 mm version for tags. Everything in the online stamp maker sits on separate layers, so the same lettering can become a loyalty card motif, a price tag or a gift card envelope without starting over.
Decide early how many stamps you really need. One design that tries to say everything ends up too small to read on a tag and too busy on a bag. Most shops do better with a large logo for packaging and two or three small wording stamps for receipts, tags and cards, all in the same typeface so they still look like a set. The design seal templates offer more decorative starting points for the packaging mark.
Stamps a gift shop uses
A typical set mixes one packaging mark with several small, practical stamps that live by the register.
Logo for bags and tissue
Juniper & Twine · Gifts & Homeware · 18 Market Street, Hudson · @juniperandtwine
Stamped on plain kraft bags, tissue and boxes. A round mark of 38–40 mm fills the front of a small bag without wrapping around the side gusset.
Gift tag
To ______ · From ______ · Wrapped with care at Juniper & Twine
Stamped on blank tags in batches before the holiday rush, leaving the names to be written at the counter.
Gift receipt
GIFT RECEIPT · Purchased ______ · Receipt no. ______ · Exchange within 30 days with this slip
For exchange slips placed inside wrapped presents. State your real exchange period and keep the wording in line with the returns policy posted in the shop.
Loyalty card stamp
JT monogram inside a star, about 12 mm, one per visit
A small, distinctive mark pressed into each box on a printed card. An unusual motif is harder to imitate than a plain tick or a store-bought star.
Price tag
Price ______ · Item no. ______ · Maker code ______
For handmade or consignment stock without barcodes. The maker code makes it easy to pay each consignment artist correctly at the end of the month.
Gift card envelope
GIFT CARD · Value ______ · Card no. ______ · Issued ______
Stamped on the small envelopes that hold paper gift cards. Record the number in your sales log so a card presented months later can be checked.

How to make a gift shop stamp
- 1
Sort the counter jobs
List each place you stamp: bags, tissue, tags, receipts, loyalty cards, price tags and envelopes. Group them by size, because one stamp per size group is usually enough for a small shop.
- 2
Choose shape and size
Use a 38–40 mm round for bags and boxes, a 47 × 18 mm rectangle for receipts and envelopes, and a 10–15 mm motif for loyalty card boxes. Set the size before editing any text.
- 3
Leave room for handwriting
Keep the shop name and one short line on the packaging stamp. In the small stamps, turn dates, amounts and names into blank lines, so the same stamp works for every customer and every sale.
- 4
Proof on your own stock
Print the PNG at actual size on a tag, a receipt and a sheet of tissue. Check that the blank lines are long enough to write on with a pen, then export the SVG for your stamp supplier.
Size, ink and file format
- Size
- Bags and gift boxes: a 38–40 mm round. Tags and price labels: 20–25 mm. Loyalty card squares are often under 15 mm, so that stamp needs a simple outline and no text.
- Ink color
- Match one ink to your brand and keep it for every stamp. Dark colors read well on kraft; on white tissue a softer shade such as gray or navy looks less heavy.
- Smallest text
- Lines that customers must read, like exchange terms, need capitals about 2 mm high at least. Smaller than that, pen writing over the stamp hides the words.
- Files
- Use a PNG for printed stickers or receipt artwork and an SVG for the rubber stamp itself. The PNG and SVG stamp downloads are explained on the pricing page.
- Tissue and coated bags
- Tissue tears and soaks up ink, so stamp it on a firm surface with a lightly inked stamp and lift straight up. Glossy or laminated bags need a solvent-based ink, because ordinary pad ink smears on them.
Gift shop stamp questions
What should a gift receipt stamp say?
At minimum, the words Gift receipt, the purchase date and how long the item can be exchanged. Leave the price off, since the slip travels with the present. A line for the original receipt number lets staff find the sale quickly. Keep the terms identical to the returns policy displayed in the shop, so nobody argues at the counter.
How do I stop people copying loyalty card stamps?
Choose an unusual motif rather than a star sold in every craft store, ink it in your brand color and change the design each year. Some shops add a handwritten initial next to each stamp. For larger rewards, record redemptions at the register as well, since any stamp can eventually be imitated by a determined customer.
Can I sell personalized stamps to customers?
Yes. Many gift shops take orders for name, wedding or new-baby stamps. Write the wording on an order form, build the design from a template and email the customer a PNG proof. Order the rubber only after they confirm by reply, and keep that email with the order in case of a dispute about spelling or layout.
Do gift card envelopes need an expiry date?
Not necessarily, and in some places a short expiry is not allowed. Rules on gift card validity differ between countries, states and provinces, so check yours before you add a Valid until line. If you use one, leave it blank on the stamp and write the date by hand at the time of sale.
Can one stamp cover Christmas and everyday wrapping?
Keep the everyday logo plain and add a second, smaller seasonal stamp such as Happy holidays or a snowflake beside it. Changing one small stamp is far cheaper than ordering seasonal printed bags. Save the seasonal design in your library and reuse it next year after updating the year or the message.
